🌍 Building the National Dialogue Roadmap

South Africa’s National Dialogue is a citizen-led process for national renewal, designed to address some of the country’s most pressing challenges — including inequality, declining trust in institutions, and socio-economic pressures.

The roadmap has been developed through an evolving, multi-stakeholder process involving civil society, sector leaders, and national structures. It outlines a phased approach from pilot dialogues in 2026 to full national rollout in 2027, ensuring that the process is grounded in the lived realities of communities across the country.

A key next step is the implementation of approximately 200 pilot dialogues across all districts and metros, prioritising communities under pressure and testing the methodology, facilitation model, and digital participation tools. These pilots will help refine how dialogue outcomes are gathered, synthesised, and translated into meaningful action — including reforms, rapid responses, and long-term nation-building.

We are aware that the current roadmap does not include South Africans abroad, particularly for the pilot phase roll out which is something we need to address in this part of the process.

This is a critical moment to ensure the process remains inclusive, independent, transparent, and truly citizen-driven.
