DIRCO – Information & Support for South Africans Abroad

This section of Operation Watershed will provide information and updates relating to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), with a particular focus on South African foreign missions, embassies, and consulates abroad.

For many South Africans living outside the country, engagement with foreign missions has often been a longstanding source of frustration — whether relating to documentation, civic services, communication, or access to assistance. As a civil society initiative representing the interests of South Africans abroad, Operation Watershed aims to help address these challenges by gathering and sharing relevant information, experiences, and resources.

Over time, this page will be expanded to include:
-
Practical information about South African embassies, consulates, and high commissions
-
Updates and developments affecting South Africans abroad
-
Guidance on navigating common administrative processes
-
Insights, feedback, and documented issues experienced by the diaspora

Our goal is to improve transparency, highlight systemic challenges where they exist, and contribute constructively to better engagement between DIRCO, its foreign missions, and the global South African community.
This section will continue to grow as more information and contributions are added.
