All South Africans in the region should prepare a fully stocked 72-hour emergency evacuation 'GO' bag that can be carried immediately.

​

📂 DOCUMENTS (Originals + Multiple Copies) - Store in waterproof folder.

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)

  • Visa / Residence Permit

  • South African ID (Smart ID / Green ID book)

  • Birth certificates (all children)

  • Marriage certificate (if applicable)

  • Custody documentation (if applicable)

  • Medical prescriptions

  • Vaccination records

  • Travel insurance policy

  • Employment contract

  • Emergency contact list (printed)

  • Printed mission contact details

  • Copies stored securely in cloud storage

  • Encrypted USB with scanned documents

💊 MEDICAL & HEALTH SUPPLIES

  • Minimum 14 days prescription medication

  • Inhalers / insulin / EpiPens (if required)

  • First aid kit:

    • Sterile gauze

    • Adhesive bandages

    • Antiseptic wipes

    • Pain medication

    • Anti-inflammatory medication

    • Oral rehydration salts

    • Thermometer

    • Medical gloves

  • Spare glasses/contact lenses

  • Sanitiser and masks

  • Electrolyte sachets

  • Water purification tablets (to purify unsafe drinking water)

  • Flashlight (with spare batteries)

  • Portable radio (battery-powered)

  • Multi-tool (if permitted)

  • Thermal blanket

  • Change of clothing

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Weather-appropriate outerwear

  • Local currency cash

  • Bank cards

  • Small notebook & pen

  • Whistle

  • Basic hygiene kit

  • Wet wipes

  • Tissues

  • Personal comfort item for children

 

🚗 ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS

  • Keep vehicle fuel tank at least half full.

  • Identify nearest hospital and safe shelter.

  • Share live location with family.

  • Monitor local news continuously.

  • Avoid military sites and protests.

  • Follow host country instructions immediately.
